Job Title:   Educational Assistant, Behavioral Program
                  Sunset School

Position Description:

Part time position, .875 FTE/ 35 hours per week

10 month classified position

 

 

The Educational Assistant will work with students  experiencing challenging behaviors in a Resource Room setting or Structured Learing Center and will serve as an assistant to the case manager for their students.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:    

  1. Approved training in Behavior Intervention Systems.
  2. Experience with clear and concise Incident Reports.
  3. Ability to report significant changes in a student’s behavior.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  5. Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher learning • An associate’s (or higher) degree or can meet a rigorous standard of quality that demonstrates, through a formal assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction or reading, writing, and mathematics readiness

       

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adhere to SLC and district policies and procedures at all times.
  2. Implement directions from SLC Teacher.
  3. Provide constant and effective supervision for behaviorally disordered and/or emotionally disturbed students at all times.
  4. Instruct students in new skills using instructional methods and materials provided by the SLC teacher.
  5. Provide positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior.
  6. Assist SLC in ensuring that program is effective and appropriate by making constructive recommendations for possible changes/revisions.
  7. Use positive behavior management techniques at all times.
  8. Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
  9. Assists with loading and unloading children from buses, transitioning kids from classroom to lunchroom, music, recess, library, etc.
  10. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
  11. Appropriately maintain and secure confidential records and inquiries.
  12. Performs physical labor as required.
  13. Maintains regular attendance in order to preserve continuity.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned by SLC Teacher, Director and/or Principal.

Salary Range:                        $17.64- $22.67 per hour
