TITLE:                                Intervention Specialist

Goal:

 

Support the implementation of a comprehensive school-wide academic intervention program. Provide instruction and support to students needing specialized or intensive intervention instruction. Work with school intervention teams to problem solve and support student growth.

 

Qualifcations:

  • Holds a valid Oregon teaching license
  • Three years of successful teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills, and e?ciency in meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
  • Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and re?ection

Job duties and respsonsibilities:

  • Define projects and specifications, deal with a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Establish and meet schedules and timelines
  • Provide support for teachers to accelerate student achievement
  • Knowledge of research-based interventions
  • Desire to work hard and passionately seek success for all students
  • Knowledge of research findings in a MTSS which includes Responsiveness to Instruction (RtI) and Positive Behavior Support (PBIS)
  • Analyze assessment and other relevant data to assist in creating goals and objectives and evaluating the effectiveness of program services
  • Provide instructional leadership in assigned area to teachers for accelerating proficiency and academic achievement of all students especially those groups that have not reached proficiency
  • Identify best practices regarding teaching, instruction and assessment in MTSS
  • Develop and provide materials for/with colleagues
  • Have in-depth knowledge of data collection and progress monitoring
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to implement Response to Intervention
  • Communicate and work closely with the regular classroom teachers while assisting in the development of each students’ intervention program
  • Assist district and school administrators in the implementation of multi-tier systems of support using balanced assessments to inform literacy and behavior
  • Manage school student intervention caseload and MTSS/SST process
  • Monitor and report out student achievement data
  • Assists teachers in developing strategic plans for intervention and growth for all students
  • Assist with designing intervention and monitoring response to intervention data for students who are struggling
  • Provide individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students in pull out and/or classroom setting
  • Assist teachers in understanding screening, diagnostic and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners
  • instruction/intervention design, and students’ response to interventions
  • Assist in developing a systematic school-wide approach to MTSS
  • Perform other duties as directed by principal or supervisor
