Job Title:      Department Champions- High School 

 

Position Type: Extra Duty $2000.

 

Reports To: Building Principal, Superintendent and School Board

 

Job Summary:

The Department Champions- High School is a key leadership role within our school, responsible for coordinating Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings, ensuring the timely submission of district PLC deliverables, and developing common assessments. This extra duty position aims to foster collaboration among grade-level teachers, promote data-driven instruction, and enhance student learning outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a teaching or instructional leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of PLC processes and principles.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and drive decision-making based on evidence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and student success.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Foster Collaboration:
    • Facilitate and lead PLC meetings, ensuring a collaborative environment where team members work together effectively.
    • Encourage open communication and the sharing of best practices among educators.
  2. Promote Learning:
    • Advocate for continuous professional growth for all team members, including both adults and students.
    • Provide resources and support for ongoing professional development and learning opportunities.
  3. Champion Ownership:
    • Support team members in achieving results related to student learning and instructional practices.
    • Monitor and support the progress towards established goals and standards.
  4. Celebrate Successes:
    • Recognize and celebrate the achievements and progress of individuals and teams within the PLC.
    • Share successes and effective practices with the broader educational community.
  5. Curriculum and Standards:
    • Define what all students are expected to know and be able to do based on curriculum and standards.
    • Ensure the alignment of curriculum with established educational standards.
  6. Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Lead teams to develop and implement formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
    • Analyze assessment data to determine whether students have mastered the content
    •  
  7. Interventions and Enrichment:
  • Design and oversee interventions for students who have not met learning expectations.
  • Create and promote enrichment opportunities for students who have achieved learning goals.

Deliverables:

  1. Establish Team Norms:
    • Collaborate with teams to develop and implement team norms to guide PLC interactions and practices.
  2. Identify Power Standards:
    • Collaborate with educators to identify and prioritize key power standards for instruction.
  3. Establish SMART Goals:
    • Collaborate with the team to set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals for PLCs and individual educators.
  4. Develop Common Pacing Guides:
    • Assist the team process which will create and maintain common pacing guides to ensure consistency in instructional delivery.
  5. Develop Common Formative Assessments:
    • Collaborate with members of the team to create and implement common formative assessments to gauge student understanding and guide instruction.
  6. Instructional Coherence Reports:
    • Prepare and present reports on instructional coherence to evaluate alignment and effectiveness of teaching practices.
  7. PLC Agenda & Notes:
    • Prepare agendas for PLC meetings and document notes to track discussions, decisions, and action items.

 

 Grade Level Champions will not play a part in the evaluation of other licensed staff members.
