Description | TITLE: High School Head Track and Field Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous Coaching experience preferred.
- Valid first aid card
- Experience in and/or knowledge of the sport/activity, coaching techniques, and student supervision
- Must complete the required training per State Law, Oregon Administrative Rules, and Board policy prior to first day of coaching duties.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director, or Principal
JOB GOAL:
Work to encourage personal growth in student athletes’ skills and abilities. Support the athletic/extra-curricular programs of the district by coaching, scouting, directing, and assuming appropriate duties assigned by the head high school, athletic director and/or principal.
Essential Functions
- Provides leadership to and assigns duties and responsibilities to assistant coaches.
- Holds organized, supervised practice
- Organizes volunteers and staff to hold local and district track meets
- Plans for transportation for athletes to contests.
- Teaches the skills necessary to participate and to be competitive in sport.
- Teaches the strategies necessary to participate and to be competitive in the sport.
- Teaches the drills and exercises needed for developing strength, stamina, and speed in the sport.
- Develops seasonal goals and objectives and daily practice plans.
- Develops lines of communications with students, staff, parents, press, officials, and booster clubs to promote the sport.
- Maintains a record that includes information about equipment, supplies, student eligibility, and emergency medical information.
- Ensures adult supervision of athletes before and after practice, games, and on bus trips.
- Provides for the safety and security of all student athletes.
- Prepares and submits to the building athletic coordinator a final season report that includes:
- Inventory of all supplies and equipment.
- Records of the contests.
- Individual records of athletes for awards.
- A tentative budget projection for the next season.
- Complies with all athletic association regulations (OSAA), league rules, and District policies.
- Follows all specified standards, policies, and facilities use procedures of Coos Bay School District.
- Actively encourages student participation.
- Promotes the ethical value of athletics.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with the administration, middle school programs and their coaches, and the greater community to enhances the sport.
- Monitors academic success of student athletes.
- Provides proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed.
Pay Rate:
In accordance with Extra Duty Salary Schedule $4,171-$8,950 (depending on experience)
Time expectation:
As set forth by the league at the beginning of each school year
