Job Title:
Accounting Technician
- 40 hours per week
- 1.0 FTE
- 12 Month employee group
Position Description:
Perform a variety of professional accounting duties including the analysis, maintenance and verification of fiscal records and provide instruction and assistance in understanding and complying with the fiscal reporting requirements of school, district and federal and state funded programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or graduation from a two year college with major course work in accounting.
- Knowledge of methods, procedures and terminology used in technical accounting work.
- Knowledge of accounting systems and maintenance techniques in an automated environment.
- Knowledge of relevant Federal and State rules and regulations and District policies and procedures.
- Ability to interpret and apply accounting and auditing principles and procedures applicable to schools and grants.
- Experience and/or knowledge working on a computer required, Windows and the components of Microsoft Office.
Performance Responsibilities
- Coordinate, develop and maintain the daily cash flow.
- Assist school personnel in establishing financial record keeping systems through the application of sound accounting techniques.
- Coordinate, analyze, monitor, investigate and assist in the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts affecting cash.
- Prepare bank and cash reconciliation and analysis.
- Prepare journal entries.
- Assist in month end and year end closing and financial reports.
- Process monthly billings and receipts.
- Maintain district fixed asset inventory.
- Maintain confidentiality of school district transactions.
- Maintain regular attendance in order to preserve continuity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations.
- May assist with the reconciliation and accounting of third party contracts and Medicaid billing
- Must adhere to all internal controls and systems
- Experience in customer/client service
Starting Date: As soon as hiring process is complete
Salary Range: $23.25 - $30.04
