The Coos Bay School District is accepting applications for an experienced instructional leader who is culturally competent and has demonstrated the ability to improve student outcomes and reduce the achievement gap.  The successful candidate will bring a passion for ensuring that all students have access to the opportunities that will allow them to graduate with the academic and social skills required to be successful after high school.

 

We are seeking someone to join our administrative team who can support students in a variety of settings and age levels.  Building assignment has not yet been determined.

Coos Bay School District is located on the picturesque Oregon coast and serves over 3,100 students.  Our schools meet a wide variety of student learning needs within safe, secure, age-appropriate learning environments.  We currently operate 2 elementary schools (K-2), 2 intermediate schools (3-6), 1 junior high school, 1 high school (9-12) and 1 alternative education campus. We also have four Preschool Promise classrooms.

Responsibilities:

The assistant principal will focus on instructional leadership; school culture, student support and management; parent engagement, teacher and staff quality.

  

 

Desired Qualities and Qualifications

 

Education

 

  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Hold, or be qualified for, an Oregon Administrative License.
  • Academic background in staff supervision, staff development, curriculum and instruction, assessment and educational reform.

  

Desired Qualities

 

  • Collaborative leadership yet decisive decision-making.
  • Knowledge of Oregon Education Standards.
  • Assessment and special program needs.
  • Budget preparation and fiscal management; grant writing.
  • School wide intervention.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving training
  • Experience with special education and 504 development
