JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 

Job Title:   Electrician I or Electrician II

                   Full time, 40 hours per week

                  

Position Description:

To maintain and keep in top operating condition all areas of the District to which he/she is assigned and responsible.

 

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the National Electric Code, electrical theory, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the electrical trade.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license.
  • Ability to sustain considerable physical effort at frequent intervals working in awkward, cramped, restrictive work environments.
  • Working knowledge of the Oregon master permit program.
  • Current Oregon General Supervising Electrician license with a minimum of two years experience in commercial or industrial settings, preferred (Electrician II)
  • Current Oregon Journeyman Electrical license with a minimum of two years experience in commercial or industrial settings (Electrician I)

 

Performance Responsibilities

  • Prepares necessary reports and information for District and Supervisor.  Tracks labor and materials costs as directed.
  • Works from sketches, plans, blueprints and electrical circuitry schematic diagrams.  Refer to technical manuals, repair manuals, and owner’s manuals to facilitate necessary equipment repairs.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems with electric motors, controls, lighting systems, fire alarms, security systems, branch circuits, complex electrical distribution systems, and other district equipment.
  • Provide quality control and technical guidance to Electricians and other District staff.
  • Inspects progress and quality of contracted electrical work.
  • Maintains a variety of electrical systems including: conduit and duct systems, light and power circuits, motor appliances, generators, control equipment, switches, fans, heaters, air conditioning units, fixtures, boilers, bell systems, clocks and fire alarms systems.
  • Uses a variety of tools and equipment utilized in the trade including voltmeter, ohmmeter, soldering equipment, and other power tools.
  • Works independently with little direct supervision.
  • Makes cost estimates and orders materials as needed.  Research and recommend equipment and supply purchases.
  • Makes calculations related to specialty quickly and accurately. 
  • Performs general maintenance, inspects and repairs all electrical equipment and systems as needed for the proper and safe operation of the district.
  • Maintains regular attendance in order to preserve continuity and works cooperatively with others.
  • Operates district vehicle to conduct work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.  May be required to perform emergency repairs during evening or weekend hours.
  • Performs maintenance repairs that require advanced journey level licensing which involve highly technical practices and repair procedures.
  • Remain informed on technological developments, industry advancements, trade qualifications, and refined application techniques.
  • Participate in the operation and upkeep of district energy management and building controls systems.
  • Work in a safe manner and in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory agency guidelines.

 

 

Starting Date:                   Immediately following selection/hiring process

 

Salary Range:                        Electrician I:      $21.10-  $28.31

                                                Electrician II:     $32.06- $36.21
