JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Job Title:   Classified Substitute

Coos Bay School District is currently accepting applications for classified work on a substitute/on-call basis at various buildings throughout the District.  Specific duties will depend on area of vacancy.  Examples of classified work include, but are not limited to:

• Clerical/Secretarial
• Educational Assistant

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work with and lead students in group and individual activities.

Instructional and behavioral management skills.

Ability to use current office technology and equipment.

Ability to be professional, dependable, and self-motivated.

Have a student-centered focus.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to work effectively with students, families and staff from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Must be flexible and willing to report to different schools depending on need.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check.
• Completion of required SafeSchools training.
• Must complete any training specific to COVID-19 protocols and procedures
• Educational Assistants must demonstrate Highly Qualified status under NCLB, you must attach documentation to your electronic application of:
  • Completion of at least two years of post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours, 48 semester units; OR
  • An associates degree or higher; OR
  • A passing score on a formal state or local assessment, demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics, such as 
  • **passing the Paraprofessional Praxis Exam with a score of 455 or higher OR
  • **meet or exceed Level 4 of Graphic Literacy, Level 4 of Applied Mathematics and Level 3 of Workplace Documents of the NCRC (National Career Readiness Certificate) which can be taken for free through Work Source Oregon (Employment Department)
